ARworks has developed for its client, Perfect Tour, a major tour-operator on the Romanian tourism market, a smart solution for activating the visitors of the Romanian Tourism Fair, in mid-November 2014.

The visitors on the stand had the chance to virtually meet, in  augmented reality, some of our client’ special guests: Santa Claus was there, who kept on beaming up from Lapland back and forth, the young and friendly captain of the MSC Orchestra cruise ship, a young and exotic dancer who wouldn’t say her name, and even a group of kids beamed from Disney Land (who were of course sent back to their parents on the first occasion).

The special guests were appearing on the huge LED wall screen in the booth showing the live camera image of the stand, next to the visitors – they were even interacting with them, making fun of  them, depending on their mood.

In the 4 days of fair, hundreds of visitors were activated with our solution and lived an augmented experience that showed them how fun and exciting would be to travel with our client, Perfect Tour.

We developed this promotional app for our international FMCG client, who wanted to present the different stages of the product’s manufacturing process to their customers, while emphasising excellence in quality.
By holding the packaging of the product in front of the tablet’s front camera, additional 3 dimensional animated content – talking, moving characters and an airplane – appeared on and around the product.

The customer was guided through the journey by the brand’s two emblematic figures, from the production plants through the factory till the distribution. Along this journey, he could learn the essentials of the product – by listening to their conversations, comments and by watching embedded video clips.

With the help of this application, which was used in an In-store activation, the brand managed to engage their customers strongly in its key messages.

To demonstrate the possibilities of Augmented Reality (AR) we’ve designed and developed an app  - ARworksME – which shows the quick history of Dubai in 3D. Since its an AR app, it does this on the 100 dirham note – and as a back up feature, users can see the content without the banknote as well, just purely in 3D. They also have the option to zoom in or rotate the animated model freely like they were flying over in their own jet.

Just download the app, hold it on the flat banknote, and you will see a falcon flying above it, than the buildings start to grow up from the ground – among them with the Burj Khalifa. After that comes the interactive part – you can choose wether you want to bring some clouds above the city, install the Expo2020 flag on the top of the Burj – or start a firework. Promotional Activations have to be more and more interesting, involving and innovative to keep up the interest of the potential customers.

We’ve kept these objectives in mind, when we’ve developed a spectacular but easy to use iPad Application for an event of a well known brand with Geometry Budapest.

Customers were asked by a promoter, wether they want to participate on a prize draw. If the answers was yes, the promoter invited the customer to a green box photo studio — which was built up in 2 minutes from a green roll up and an iPad Application on 2 square metres.
The guest was standing in front of the background and a photo was made — and the app took away the green background from the photo, so the cut out image of the participant could be easily added onto the built in branded photo — actually the key visual of the campaign. Then the prepared montage was shared, printed or simply sent to any e-mail address.
A registration step was also included in the app to collect the contact details of the participant for the future prize draw.

Using iPads and purpose built applications on activations are becoming more and more common — they gave a unique experience to the participant, an innovative image to the brand and they are very cost efficient if they ‘re used on many places for more days.

To promote their new product using Motionsense technology, Rexona/Unilever asked us to develop an iPad application which teaches their customers how this new solution works. Our idea was to make the can itself becoming transparent with the help of an Augmented Reality App to show the special capsules inside and then give a personal experience on how they work.

Promoters asked potential customers in hypermarkets to look around with the iPad running the specially developed application. When the users looked on the can, surrounded by a cut-out print, it became transparent, like the iPad would be a handheld X-Ray device and the capsules inside turned visible. Then the users were asked to push the top of the can on the screen, so capsules were coming out form it in 3D.

The next step were to shake the device – imitating the movement/friction of our body so the capsules started to burts out their content to prevent sweat. Then, the users were asked to move it even harder to make them understand the core concept of this new technology – the more you move, the more protection you have.

The app is running in two languages – Arabic and English – and is used region-wide in the Middle-East. As part of our service, we’ve run the training of the promoters as well, to make sure they perfectly know how the app works.

Applications running on tablets have huge potential – they are interactive, they are surprising and engaging and once ready they can be used simultaneously on numerous locations without additional cost.
